Your Retail Business is Thriving. So Why Aren’t You?

You’ve built something that works. The revenue is there, or growing. You have customers. Opportunities. Maybe a team. From the outside, it looks like success.

But internally it still feels like a lot.

You close your laptop for the night, but your brain keeps working. You’re sitting on the couch with your husband and suddenly remember the email you forgot to send. You delegate something to your team… then check behind them to make sure it was actually done right. You hit the sales goal you’ve been chasing for months, feel good about it for approximately twelve minutes, and immediately start thinking about the next one.

Even when nothing is technically wrong, there’s this underlying pressure that you should be doing something. And there’s probably a part of you that thought it would feel different by now. Lighter. More spacious. More fucking fun.

Because you didn’t build a successful business just so you could spend your entire life thinking about it. You want to grow, make money, and do big shit. You just don’t want your business to require every ounce of your mental and emotional energy in order to do it.

And THAT is exactly why I created the RARE Formula. It’s the signature framework I use inside the Time of Your Life Collective to change the way you operate inside your business, so you can keep building something wildly successful without your success consuming your entire life.

Let’s get into it.

The RARE Formula: Changing the Woman Running the Business

At this level, your business probably doesn’t need another strategy. The woman running it does.

Because you can have the perfect strategy and still overthink every decision you make. You can hire an incredible team and still struggle to let them actually do their jobs. You can create boundaries around your work hours and spend the entire evening mentally at work anyway. You can know exactly what you should do and still find yourself doing the same shit you swore you were going to stop doing.

That’s because the problem isn’t necessarily what you know. It’s the patterns running you while you run your business.

The RARE Formula gets underneath those patterns. It stands for:

Reawaken. Align. Renovate. Expand.

And each part builds on the one before it.

Step 1: Reawaken

Before we start changing anything, you need to be able to hear yourself. And that’s surprisingly difficult when you’ve spent years operating almost entirely from your head: analyzing, planning, anticipating, problem-solving, running through every possible scenario before you make a decision, and thinking about what needs to happen tomorrow while you’re still in today.

Eventually, you become so accustomed to living from the neck up that you barely notice you’re doing it.

Reawaken is about getting you back into your body.

This is where we use breathwork, somatic practices, nervous system work, and tools you can actually use in real life. Not just during a 20-minute meditation in a perfectly quiet room.

I mean when sales are down and you can feel yourself starting to panic. When an employee makes a mistake and your immediate impulse is, This is why I have to do everything myself. When you’re about to send the reactive email. When you’ve technically stopped working for the day but your brain has decided now would be an excellent time to review the entire state of your business.

You learn to recognize what’s happening inside you while it’s happening. And that creates space: space between what happens and the story you immediately attach to it, between feeling uncomfortable and needing to DO something about it, and between the thought and the reaction.

Because when you can actually notice what’s happening in your body, you stop being unconsciously driven by it. And for the first time in a long time, you can actually hear yourself underneath all that noise.

Step 2: Align

Once you can hear yourself again, we get honest about what you actually want. Because ambitious women usually aren't struggling from a lack of goals. We have plenty of fucking goals: more revenue, a bigger team, a bigger building, another offer, another location, another milestone.

There is always a next thing available to chase. But somewhere along the way, it becomes really easy to stop asking whether you actually want the thing, or whether you’re just accustomed to wanting more.

That’s where Align comes in.

What do you actually want your business to look like? What do you want your days to look like? How much do you want to work? What do you want to be responsible for, and what are you absolutely done being responsible for? What do you want your relationships, travel, health, hobbies, mornings, Tuesdays, and random fucking afternoons to look like?

Because your business is supposed to support your life. Not become your entire life.

Alignment means we stop blindly chasing the version of success you decided you wanted five years ago, or the one the internet told you you should want, and start making decisions based on what actually matters to you now.

That might mean growing, simplifying, hiring, making significantly more money, or realizing you don't actually want the giant team you thought you were supposed to build. There isn't one correct version. The point is that you're finally building your version.

And once you know what that is, decisions become a hell of a lot easier.

Step 3: Renovate

This is where we rip some shit out. Because once you know how you want to operate, we have to deal with everything underneath the surface that's making that difficult.

Think about renovating a house. If you hate your kitchen countertop, you don't buy a beautiful new slab and install it directly on top of the old one. You rip the old one the fuck out. Then you build something new.

But this is exactly what most people are trying to do with themselves.

They try to put I trust my team on top of If I don't stay on top of everything, something will go wrong.

They try to put My worth isn't determined by my productivity on top of Being successful is what makes me valuable.

They try to put It's safe for me to slow down on top of a nervous system that learned a long time ago that being useful, productive, prepared, likable, impressive, or in control is how you stay safe.

And then they wonder why the new belief won't fucking stick.

This is where the Protectors show up:

  • The Control Freak.

  • The Achiever.

  • The People Pleaser.

  • The Performer.

  • The Critic.

  • The Avoider.

These aren't personality traits. They're protective behaviors. Maybe control became the way you created safety. Maybe achieving became the way you proved you were good enough. Maybe being endlessly helpful became the way you made sure people loved and needed you. Maybe you became incredibly good at reading a room and figuring out exactly which version of yourself would play best in it.

These patterns worked. That's why they're still here. The problem is that now they're running a business with you.

So instead of spending the rest of your life trying to manage the behavior, trying not to micromanage, overwork, or people-please, we go to the source. What is this behavior protecting? What does your system believe would happen if you stopped? What old belief is still running underneath it?

And then we work there.

Because when you address the root, the behavior doesn't need to be wrestled into submission. It starts becoming unnecessary. You're not spending your entire life catching the same thought and reframing it. You're putting the pattern out of a job.

That's Renovate. And it's the piece that makes the change actually stick.

Step 4: Expand

Then we get to build. Not on top of the old shit. From somewhere completely different.

Expand is where you start operating differently in your actual life and business.

Sales are down this week and you don't immediately decide your entire strategy is broken. Someone on your team makes a mistake and you address the mistake instead of deciding this proves you can never trust anyone. You make a decision without polling five people, pulling three tarot cards, and revisiting it fourteen times. You take Friday off and actually experience Friday instead of spending it thinking about everything you could be getting done.

You launch something without making the result mean something about you as a person. You make more money without immediately increasing the amount of pressure you put on yourself. You let the people you've hired actually own their jobs. You leave work physically and mentally.

This is expansion. Not “becoming your next-level self.” Not trying to perform as some imaginary version of you who has her shit together more than you do.

It's being able to experience more success, responsibility, money, visibility, rest, pleasure, uncertainty, all of it, without immediately snapping back into the patterns that used to run you.

And that's what makes growth sustainable. Your business can get bigger without your life getting smaller.

What This Actually Changes

This is where the work stops being theoretical.

One of my clients came into this work feeling like she needed to be “fixed.” She was used to pushing through everything, stuffing emotions, staying busy, and constantly trying to improve herself. She had done the books. The podcasts. The therapy. She understood so much intellectually.

But she described it as everything staying in her head. She knew how she should think. She knew how she should feel. She could identify the patterns. But knowing wasn't changing them.

Through this work, she described things finally “clicking at a deeper level.” Not because she learned another thing to think. Because she was actually experiencing herself differently.

Another client described it as finally being able to “shut off the machine” in her head. She wasn't constantly trying to think her way into feeling better anymore.

And another woman who had been accustomed to working around the clock and feeling constant anxiety began prioritizing herself without the guilt that used to come with it. Her business stopped consuming her identity. She felt like a whole person again, with or without the business.

And here's what did not happen: their businesses didn't implode because they stopped white-knuckling them. They didn't become less ambitious. They didn't stop making money. They simply stopped requiring pressure in order to perform.

Because Without Changing the Pattern, You Just Recreate It

This is the part nobody tells you. You can absolutely grow your business without doing this work. You probably already have.

But if the way you're operating doesn't change, you bring the same patterns with you.

You hit the next revenue goal and find a new number to worry about. You hire the team and become the bottleneck because you're still involved in every decision. You finally take the vacation and check your phone from the beach. You create the free afternoon and spend it feeling guilty because you “should” be working. You get the thing you thought would finally make everything feel easier, and somehow you're still you inside of it.

More money doesn't automatically create safety. More employees don't automatically create trust. More free time doesn't automatically make you capable of resting.

Whatever is running you now will come with you to the next level unless you actually address it.

And that's why successful women can keep accomplishing more while feeling like their lives are getting tighter and tighter around them. The business keeps expanding. But they don't.

“Isn't This Just Mindset Work?”

Nope.

Traditional mindset work often focuses on the thought. Catch it. Shove it out. Replace it with a better one.

Look, there's absolutely value in awareness. But awareness alone doesn't necessarily change the reason the thought keeps showing up.

You can KNOW you don't need to control everything and still feel your entire body tighten when someone else does something differently than you would. You can KNOW your worth isn't attached to your revenue and still feel like shit when you have a slow month. You can KNOW rest is productive and still spend your day off feeling guilty.

That's why we're not just asking: “What are you thinking?”

We're asking: “What's underneath this?”

What does control give you? What does achieving prove? What does being needed protect you from? What feels unsafe about slowing down?

Because once you understand the function of the pattern, we can actually work with the source of it. Your mind is part of the process. But so is your body. So is your nervous system. So are the unconscious beliefs you've been operating from for years without even realizing they're there.

The goal isn't to become better at overriding yourself. It's to get to a point where there's less and less to override.

You don't need to spend the rest of your life “working on yourself.” You get to actually fucking live it.

Your Business Doesn't Need to Get Smaller for Your Life to Get Bigger

You do not have to choose between ambition and peace. You don't have to stop wanting more. You don't have to dismantle the successful business you've built, disappear to a cabin in the woods, or suddenly decide money doesn't matter to you.

You can still build. You can still grow. You can still be wildly fucking ambitious. But the way you operate while you do it can change.

And that's what the RARE Formula is designed to do:

  • Reawaken so you can hear yourself again.

  • Align with the life and business you actually want.

  • Renovate the patterns that keep pulling you back into pressure, control, proving, and overwork.

  • Expand into a way of operating where you can experience everything you've built instead of spending your entire life managing it.

Because the goal was never just to build a successful business. You were supposed to get a big fucking life out of the deal, too.
